[Dated 1st November, 2000] Received the assent of the Governor on November 1, 2000 and published in the U. P. Gazette (Extraordinary), Part 1, Section (Ka), dated 1st November, 2000, page 2. An Act to repeal the Uttar Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institutions (Prevention of Dissipation of Properties) Act, 1962. It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-first year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Hindu Religious Institutions (Prevention of Dissipation of Properties) (Repeal) Act, 2000. (2) it shall be deemed to have come into force on August 26, 2000. Object & Reasons6

Statement of Objects and Reasons.-The Uttar Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institutions (Prevention of Dissipation of Properties) Act, 1962 (U. P. Act No. 22 of 1962) was enacted as a temporary measure to provide for prevention of dissipation and regulation of transfer of the properties of Hindu Public Religious institutions in Uttar Pradesh. The period of application of the said Act was extended from time to time, and lastly it was re-enacted with certain modifications by the U. P. Act No. 55 of 1976. On the demand of certain classes of the society it was decided to repeal the said Act. Since the State Legislature was not in session and immediate legislative action was necessary to implement the aforesaid decision, the Uttar Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institutions (Prevention of Dissipation of Properties) (Repeal) Ordinance, 2000 (U. P. Ordinance No. 13 of 2000) was promulgated by the Governor on August 26, 2000. This Bill is introduced to replace the aforesaid Ordinance.

2. Repeal of U. P. Act No. 22 of 1962 as re-enacted and modified by U. P. Act No. 55 of 1976. - The Uttar Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institutions (Prevention of Dissipation of Properties) Act, 1962 is hereby repealed.

3. Repeal of Ordinance. - The Uttar Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institutions (Prevention of Dissipation of Properties) (Repeal) Ordinance, 2000 is hereby repealed.
