PREAMBLE An Act

further to amend the Assam Ministers', Ministers' of State and Deputy Ministers' Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958 Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Ministers', Ministers' of State and Deputy Ministers' Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958 (Assam Act XV of 1958), hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing;

It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

1. Short title and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1970. (2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 8 of Assam Act XV of 1958 :- For section 8 of the principal Act, the following shall be substituted, namely:-- "8. A Minister, a Minister of State and a Deputy Minister and the members of their families shall be entitled to such medical treatment and benefits as may be laid down by rules to be made by the State Government.

Explanation.--

1. For the purpose of this section the expression the members of their families shall mean and include such members as may be prescribed by rules.

2. Those who are entitled to free medical attendance and treatment may take the same from any registered physician of their choice-- Allopathic, Ayurvedic, Unani or Homoeopathic and medicals bills on prescription of such physicians are reimbursable."
