Tell me about yourself ?

I am an advocate practicing at Ranchi Courts like 1.Civil Courts, Ranchi 2.Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi, 3. District Consumer Forum, Ranchi, 4. Jharkhand State Consumer Commission, Ranchi, 5. Debts Recovery Tribunal, Ranchi etc.

I also filed several Revision Petitions and appeared before the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, New Delhi.

What inspired you to make your career in the field of law?

My father was a leading advocate of Ranchi. This inspired me to choose legal profession as my career. From the childhood I was looking after the life style and works of my father. I use to type his draftings which enhanced my liturature and legal knowledge. The society gives high respect to a good lawyer. The advocates have an opportunity to do good for society / poor by providing free legal aid to the needy.

What are your strengths?

My strengths are my hard work and fair submission before the Courts which makes a good impression before the learned judges/courts.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?

I am satisfied with the achievements of my last 23 years of practice. I may acquire much knowledge and experience in the next 5 to 10 years which may enable me to perform better and do good in my profession.

Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.

When I won an appeal before the Jharkhand State Commission, Ranchi against an order passed in Consumer Complaint by the District Consumer Forum, Garhwa in which the order passed by the DCF, Garhwa against my father's closest friend has been set aside. This made me proud that I have been able to help our very close family friend by getting the order passed against him quashed.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to do more different types of cases in different courts of law, like State Consumer Commission, Debts Recovery Tribunal, High Court etc.

What would you look to accomplish in the first 30 days/60 days/90 days on the legal job?

I look to complete so many pending draftings in near future like drafting of Original Applications for filing in D.R.T. and drafting of reply to the notice issued u/s 13(2) of the SARFAESI Act issued by the bank to its defaulting borrower, drafting for partnership deed etc.

I have done my schooling from 1. St. John's High School, Ranchi. 2. My B.Com(H) from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi. 3. Bachelor of Journalism (B.J) from Ranchi University, 4. M.B.A. Finance from Birla Institute of Technology,Mesra, Ranchi. 5. LLB from Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi.

Tell me how you handled a difficult situation.

During legal practice so many difficult situations arrise, which can be handeled with patience and presence of mind. Judges are also human beings and their perceptions are different. So we have to act accordingly.

What motivates you?

Primarily aperciaton of works and favourable results motivates me. The appreciation can be from the clients, other advocates or from the judges. Other than above the amount of fee earned for some job is also a motivating factor.

Are you a leader or a follower?

I am a leader. Presently I am the President of D.R.T. Advocate's Association. During studies I have organized different activities like quiz competition, hostel night, industrial tour etc.

What was the last law book you’ve read for knowledge?

1. Jharkhand Building (Lease Rent and Eviction) Control Act. 2. Consumer Protection Act 2019.

Your interests apart from studies?

Gardening, Singing and Meeting with old friends. I use to work in my garden every morning. We annually organize friends meet at different places of our country.

The best experience and a success habit you would like to share for our readers that would encourage them.

Hard Work, Ready with your case file, Fair submissions before the Court always pays in the long run. Avoid short term gains. We can learn by experience means as much as we do the different works we can enhance our quality.

Where are you working currently?

As already stated above, I mostly do cases in Civil Courts, Debts Recovery Tribunal, Consumer Courts and Jharkhand High Court, at Ranchi.

Any suggestion for new lawyer?

Initial hard work shall pay the new lawyers in future. Read law books, study case files and attend the courts regularly. New lawyers may prepare themselves for judicial services exams. They may also apply for law officers in banks and other companies who has their own legal department to handle litigations.
