Tell me about yourself ?

I am a lawyer working in Delhi and practicing for the past 3 years. I have practiced extensively in the field of real estate consumer law and banking law. I have also worked on matters related to recovery of contractual dues through recovery suits and other legal mechanisms.

What inspired you to make your career in the field of law?

I was interested in law as a profession and chose to explore it as an opportunity. I come from a business family but I was never interested in joining the family business and wanted to do something by myself. So I decided to enter the law profession as it gave me an opportunity to do something on basis of my own talents and skills.

What are your strengths?

My strength is my ability to complete my work in a quick and timely manner. I also work well with others and am not afraid to admit when I don't know something and am always eager to learn

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?

I see myself having having my own practice in the next 5 years. When I started practicing I realised that I have no prior experience in the field and as such chose to learn from others in the profession to the extent where I am competent enough to open my own practice

Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.

I am most proud of being able to establish a base for myself in the field of law especially considering the fact that it very difficult to initially start your practice in this profession unless you have a family history or backing for the same.

What is your dream job?

I don't have a dream job rather my dream is to have my own practice. I want to learn as much as I can from my seniors to be able to open my own practice one day

What would you look to accomplish in the first 30 days/60 days/90 days on the legal job?

In the first few months on the legal job my goal would be to learn as much as I possible can from my seniors in the profession which can help me further my career in the long run. In the first few months try and find a senior who is willing not only to teach you but also slowly hand responsibility to you as you will never learn as much from simply reading files than you will by working cases.

Discuss your educational background.

I have done my schooling from summer fields school which is a local private school in delhi and straight after school I began and completed my law education form Guru Gobind Singh indraprastha University.

Tell me how you handled a difficult situation.

I handled a difficult situation by not panicking and analysing it calmly and then consulting with my seniors on how to handle the parts I couldn't deal with so I can handle them if the situation arises again in the future

What motivates you?

I am motivated by a need to do the best I can to the limit of my abilities and progress in my career as quickly as possible. I am also motivated by my need to establish a career for myself which I can use to support myself and my family in the long run.

Are you a leader or a follower?

I see myself as a leader as I am not afraid to take the lead on a case, however i am also open to the idea that I don't know everything and am eager to learn which I believe is an important quality in a leader

What was the last law book you’ve read for knowledge?

I have not gone through any legal commentaries as I have noticed during my practice that commentaries are generally the last resort when you need to know something and the best way to understand a law or a provision is to go through judgements on the same.

Your interests apart from studies?

I am interested in reading and music but not reading things related to law as it can get a bit much at times

The best experience and a success habit you would like to share for our readers that would encourage them.

When you start out in your career as a lawyer do not try to accomplish everything by yourself and depend on your seniors as much as you can as there is no shame on asking people about things you dont know. Also dont be afraid to make mistakes as you learn the most from your mistakes only

Advocates Pedia Foundation have committed to establish Advocatespedia like Wikipedia, Any Opinion or Suggestions?

It is very important in any such site to ensure that the details available on the site are as accurate as possible so there should a mechanism for cross checking and verifying details as much as possible

Where are you working currently?

I am working at Tandon and co a boutique law firm operating from Green park in delhi. We operate mainly in the field of telecom disputes and banking regulation.

Any suggestion for new lawyer?

Don't be discouraged if you feel like you are lagging behind in this profession in the beginning as the things you learn in college are only a small part of what you need to be a successful lawyer and your entire career is still before you. Also dont be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes as the more you do these things the more you will learn.
